Research standards

SHOW THE RECEIPTS.

The attitude can be loud. The evidence has to be boringly solid.

Publication rules

  • Record the observation date for every domain.
  • Separate explicit for-sale pages from generic parking, redirects, blank pages, and developed sites.
  • Do not infer ownership motives from a landing page alone.
  • Store asking price separately from verified sale price.
  • Preserve source URLs and screenshots when legally appropriate.
  • Label illustrative examples as illustrative.
  • Provide correction and dispute mechanisms before treating the database as authoritative.
  • Distinguish trademark cybersquatting from broader domain speculation.

Metrics we can responsibly calculate

Observed asking-price distributions, time parked, category concentration, developed-vs-undeveloped ratios, registration/renewal cost comparisons, and documented business stories.
